The Farmette Cabinette is finally finished and I’ve finally started moving in.  Yay!  I’m going to do a full reveal soon, perhaps in a video, but I wanted to share a few of the details before that.  As a food blogger, it was important to me to have a kitchenette in my office.  This enables me to do some of my recipes here and it also serves as the backdrop for my (future) cooking videos.  I was going for a farmhouse kitchen look and I think it all came together beautifully!

One must have in this space was a large sink.  Developing recipes results in a shocking amount of dirty dishes so it only made sense to have a sink here to save me from trekking all of my dirty dishes to the house to wash and then schlepping them back to the shed.  I went back and forth about getting a true farmhouse sink with an apron front, but I just couldn’t justify the cost.  I chose this white cast iron single basin instead and I LOVE it.

James (and his helper) installed a small hot water heater for me and did all of the other plumbing.  I’m so lucky that James was able to do all of the work himself and that we were able to borrow most of the bigger ticket tools needed for the job.  The entire Farmette Cabinette was such a labor of love and wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our friends and family.

I absolutely love how the kitchen space turned out.  The white subway tile with the gray grout, gray cabinets, and white and gray countertops really made my vision of a farmhouse kitchen come together.  Laminate countertops have come a LONG way.  These are actually 10ft prefab pieces that we simply cut to size and installed.  I love that the edges are finished (as opposed to the old style of laminate).  It really does look like faux granite.
